The Central girls' basketball team has been battling hard all season long, and unfortunately, without many wins to show for it.
The reward came on Monday, Jan. 13 with a big time 52-16 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola.
A 19-2 showing in the second quarter allowed the Lady Dragons to turn the contest into a runaway.
Lyla Imes led Central with 13 points, while Dessa Boyles also reached double figures with 10.
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the Lady Dragons faced off against rival Tyrone and despite leading at the half, they fell by a 37-32 score.
Central was out in front 18-13 but a slow third quarter had it down five (30-25) before being outscored 9-7 in the fourth.
The Lady Scarlet Dragons got a balanced scoring effort as Adyson Poet led the way with eight points.
Against Greater Johnstown on Friday, Jan. 17, Central dropped all four quarters in a 68-52 loss that saw its record fall to 2-11.
The Dragons found themselves down 17-13, then were outscored 17-10 in the second to head into the locker room down 11.
Central was only outscored by five in the second half as the deficit was too much to overcome.
Marah Dickson knocked down three 3-pointers en route to a team-high 18 points, while Addie Imes tossed in 16 for the Lady Dragons.
