PSP Investigating Roaring Spring Assault

Pennsylvania State Police Hollidaysburg is investigating an assault that occurred around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, January 12, near the 500 block of Cherry Street, Roaring Spring.

The victim reported at about 8:30 p.m., they heard a knock at their front door. When they opened the door, there was a young woman, who is the suspect, standing on her front porch.

The victim said the suspect asked her a question and then immediately struck her in the face causing injury.

The victim reported that the suspect fled the scene on foot southeast towards Garver Street, and Rockingham Alley.

The suspect was described as a white, non-hispanic female, shoulder length dark hair, and wearing all black with a black face mask.

Mary Greenleaf, of Roaring Spring said the suspect stopped at her granddaughter’s home on Cherry Street shortly before this incident happened.

The suspect knocked on her granddaughter’s door, and asked her to step outside. When her granddaughter refused, the suspect walked down the street to another home.

Greenleaf’s granddaughter wanted others to know about what happened and warned others to be cautious of people knocking on their doors at night.

Roaring Spring Police Department Chief Greg Wyandt, confirmed that this was the same person, and said the suspect was between 15-18 years old.

He does not think it is anything to worry about as it could be a one time thing, but to still be careful when opening the door for anyone they are not expecting especially at night.

“If you are not expecting anyone late at night, look out a window or contact police if they don’t feel safe opening the door,” Wyandt said.

Anyone with information regarding the assault, are requested to contact Tpr. Erik Dividock, PSP Hollidaysburg at 814-696-6100.
