Two Fires in One Day
Herald of Jan. 19, 1950
Two separate fires on Thursday, Jan 12, in the southern Cove resulted in $4,200 damage to two houses. The one story home of Kenneth Frederick between Waterside and Lafayettesville was destroyed by the time Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Company arrived at the scene. While Ralph Imler was at the Frederick fire, a blaze at his home started two miles east of New Enterprise. Mrs. Imler rescued the children from the room where the greatest damage was done and with the help of neighbors put out the blaze by the time her husband returned home.
