The Nason Hospital Auxiliary held their annual Live Nativity event for the local communities on December 7, from 6 - 8 p.m. This was the second year for the nativity. Hospital Leadership members and other volunteers donned the traditional garb to celebrate Christmas.
Judith Reffner and Joan Mock, Auxiliary members, were event organizers.
“We had a good turnout this year. Families brought their young children,” Reffner said.
Some people drove by the gazebo area of Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. Others stopped to listen to entertainment provided by Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren.
The ladies from Leamersville Grace Brethren Church’s praise and worship team, and the Mingle family, Doug, JoEllen and their daughter, Emily also provided singing entertainment. Hot chocolate and light refreshments were served in the gift shop area.
After the outside event, nativity members strolled through the halls of the hospital so staff and patients could participate in the event.
The Nason Auxiliary supports efforts to improve patient comfort at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. The Auxiliary is led by Paulette Feather. The gift shop is managed by Linda Steele. Volunteers diligently work all year long to support the hospital. Auxiliary membership is open to the public. Those interested in volunteering may fill out an application at the Conemaugh website: Conemaugh.org/volunteers.
The Auxiliary would like to thank the community for coming out to support the live nativity. The Star of David was loaned by the Holy Fire Chapel in Roaring Spring. The camels, sheep and costumes were loaned by the Martinsburg Church of God. The free local radio advertising from WRTA 98.5 and WALY 103.9., was appreciated.
