Wilbur Loy Mountain, 91, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2024, in his home.

He was born April 22, 1933, in New Enterprise, son of the late Oro Mountain and Dollie (Reighard) Mountain.

Wilbur is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marian (Miller) Mountain; children, Brian (Janice) Mountain, Todd (Amy) Mountain and Kristen (Van) Thorson; grandchildren: Emily (Matt) Boise, Libby (Caty) Mountain, Evan and Eric Thorson, Alison and Claire Mountain; great-grandchild, Henry Boise; brother, Paul Mountain and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene, Ura, Pearl, Dessie, Bob and Merle.

Wilbur was a 1951 graduate of Replogle High School in New Enterprise.

He was a United States Army Veteran. Wilbur received his BS in Education from Slippery Rock University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Miami of Ohio University and a Master of Agriculture from Penn State University.

He was a botanist with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and retired after 25 years of service. Previously, he was a science and math teacher for 19 years at Susquehanna Township School District. Wilbur also drove 38 years as a part-time commercial bus driver for Greyhound and Capital Trailways. He was an avid gardener and plant enthusiast who loved spending time with his grandchildren in his greenhouse and garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Grace Bible Fellowship Church 1250 Colonial Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112 or Homeland Hospice (Attn: Myra Badorf) 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg PA 17110.
