Veterans Day Activities Planned

Biddle’s Brewing

Biddle’s Brewing said that Williamsburg VFW Post 6086 approached them with an idea to offer meals to veterans. This is something that is typically done on Memorial Day as well.

“We were happy to say yes, it’s the least we can do to show appreciation to our Veteran community, it’s because of them that we have the freedom to live in a free country,” Biddle’s owner Mike Biddle said. Meals can include one food or pastry item along with a regular-sized drink; this event will take place on Veterans Day during normal business hours.

Grace Pointe Community Church of God

Grace Pointe Community Church of God will host a combined service next Sunday, November 10, at 10:30 a.m.

The service will honor Veterans and those who spent part of their lives at the Blair County Children’s Home. The church sits on the location where the Blair County Children’s Home was located. The keynote speaker will be Bishop Bobby Duncan of Cleveland, Ohio. A free meal will be served following the service at the Williamsburg Veterans Memorial Center (community center).

Sign Dedication

The Blair County Children’s Home sign and the Sgt. Glenn H. English, Jr. sign will be formally dedicated on Saturday, November 9, beginning at 1 p.m. The location is along the Lower Trail beside Martin General, Williamsburg. The keynote speaker will be 80th District State Representative Jim Gregory.
