During a packed homecoming event at the Claysburg-Kimmel School District stadium, the bulldogs delivered an electrifying performance, coming from behind to secure a 29-18 victory over Moshannon Valley.
The win not only thrilled fans, but also included postgame fireworks.
The victory keeps Claysburg-Kimmel undefeated in the Inter-County Conference's North Division and sets the stage for a potential milestone next week when they face Mount Union.
Key contributors included Mason Campagna, who rushed for two touchdowns, passed for another, and gained 104 yards on the ground. Mark Lattieri added 112 rushing yards, scored a touchdown, and was crowned homecoming king.
A pivotal moment came late in the third quarter. With just over a minute remaining, Claysburg-Kimmel faced a crucial fourth-and-6 at Moshannon Valley's 41-yard line. Under pressure, Campagna threw into tight coverage. Though the pass fell incomplete, a defensive pass interference penalty gave the Bulldogs a fresh set of downs. Campagna capitalized immediately, scoring on a 26-yard run to give his team a 22-18 lead.
Campagna, who also threw for 134 yards without an interception, was the standout player. However, the Claysburg-Kimmel crowd played an unsung role, disrupting the opposing team and forcing several early timeouts.
