Kenneth Wayne "Ken" Grannas

Williamsburg

Kenneth Wayne Grannas, 81, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2024, from congestive heart failure at Abington-Lansdale Hospital near Philadelphia.

He was born Nov. 2, 1942, in Altoona, son of the late Herman C. and Emily C. (Zimmerman) Grannas. On Aug. 27, 1966, he married Alice F. Himes in Williamsport. She preceded him in death March 29, 2021, following 54 years of marriage.

He is survived by two daughters: A. Christine Grannas of Haymarket, Va. and Amanda M. Grannas of Norristown; and three sisters-in-law: Jayne A. Grannas of Duncansville, Phyllis J. Grannas of Williamsburg, and Carol A. Himes of Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, C. Gerald Grannas (Phyllis) of Williamsburg and Donald C. Grannas (Jayne) of Duncansville; his brother-in-law, Robert W. Himes (Carol) of Williamsburg; and his beloved dog, Sophie.

Kenneth was a 1960 graduate of Williamsburg High School and a 1962 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce, where he earned a degree in accounting.

He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1964 until 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant and earning a sharpshooter badge.

Kenneth retired as a field supervisor from PennDot, with a total of 16 years of service.

He was a naturally gifted, self-taught creator who took back of the napkin sketches and made them into beautiful family heirlooms. Creating these exquisite works were expressions of his deep love that his beloved daughters cherish every day. They include furniture that fills living rooms, decks that expand living spaces, and sewing cabinets that give his daughters the capacity to carry on his legacy of creation today.

He loved hunting, woodworking, and watching football and NASCAR.

At Ken's request, there will be no public services and a private interment with military honors will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

Contributions in memory of Ken may be given to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Company, 305 E. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com).
