Brandon Reynolds from Boys Scout Troop 358

Hello, I am Brandon Reynolds from Boy Scout Troop 358 in Martinsburg, PA and I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project. The purpose of this letter is to explain my Eagle Scout Project and ask for your help with funding to work towards my goal. My project will benefit the fencing club in my high school, Northern Bedford.

My project will replace old and broken equipment the fencing club is currently using. My project will also create a shelf for our club’s equipment. Lastly, my project will promote fencing as it is a very unheard of and small sport in my area.

The fencing club in my school was started two years ago by my chemistry teacher, Mr. Crocker. Six students including myself were in the club, so it started very small. Our coach makes the club free for all who want to join and lends his personal equipment for students to use during the season. Quite a bit of the equipment is old and worn out. Some of it no longer works and we are very short on certain items, including protective gear and electric equipment for matches.

I plan to raise $3,500 dollars to help the fencing club buy new equipment in a variety of ways. All money raised will go to the NBC Fencing club that will be used to buy new equipment when needed. I plan to fundraise outside of Sam’s Club’s exit for four days and sell items like hamburgers and hotdogs, and collect donations. I plan to host a Hoss’s fundraiser where people can have a part of their check go towards my Eagle Project. I also plan to do a dinner fundraiser at the firehall in Martinsburg to raise money and collect donations.

To grow the size of the fencing club, I plan to do demonstrations. These will be after school events where any students from my school who are interested pay admission to come in and receive instruction on fencing, get to watch it demonstrated as well as try it out for themselves. This will help us raise more money as well as promote fencing to get more fencers on our team.

If I can complete my project, then I can guarantee that the fencing club in my school will grow in numbers, have plenty of good and safe equipment and be financially stable for a long while. If possible, I am asking that you could contribute money to my project to make the dream a reality.
