Annual Benefit Auction for the Clinics for Special Children a Huge Success

The Annual Benefit Auction for the Clinic for Special Children and Central PA Clinic returned for the 27th year on Sept 13-14.

On Friday, people were busy setting up items to be auctioned and many were in line to buy rib dinners.

The dinners included Hatfield's ribs, a homemade roll, homemade baked beans, homemade mac and cheese, and the choice of coleslaw or applesauce.

There were 800 dinners to be sold and 775 were sold immediately.

Just as popular were the homemade baked goods of pies and doughnuts. This was the first year they were sold on Friday evening.

The auction began at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hundreds of chairs were already in place to accommodate the bidders and their families. The Bluebird Country Workshop made many items for the auction.

The silent auctions were very busy with items such as a wooden glider with a bear design, benches, corn hole boards, and a grill.

Seventeen quilts, featuring patterns such as Seasons at Home, Waterfall Heart, and Cabin by the River, were sold.

Dresses, homemade clothing, shoes and coats were sold.

A new buggy was auctioned, as well as shrubbery, pumpkins, hanging baskets, tools, apples, and many canned food items such as peaches, jams, and jellies.

The Committee thanked everyone who donated and participated in the cause.
