Central Secures Third Win Last Friday

Central High School's football team secured its third straight win on Friday, September 13, with a victory over the previously unbeaten Bellwood-Antis at the Roaring Spring Athletic Field in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference clash.

Senior quarterback Eli Muthler delivered another standout performance, completing 20 of 37 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a rushing score. With the win, Central advanced to 3-1 overall and in the conference.

Muthler connected with senior wide receiver Thaide Mickel on a 33-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He followed up with a three-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter and hit senior receiver Jay Hoenstine with a five-yard strike in the back corner of the end zone, giving Central a commanding 23-6 lead by halftime.

Play of the game: Muthler's precise touchdown pass to Mickel ignited Central's offense.

Player of the game: Muthler's impressive passing helped the Scarlet Dragons recover after an early deficit.

Unsung heroes: Senior running back Braydon Beach ran for 122 yards on 13 carries, keeping Bellwood's defense off-balance against Central's aerial attack. Senior linebacker Lukas Black made two crucial fourth-down stops, one in each half, to halt Bellwood's offensive momentum. Black also ran in a two-point conversion and threw a pass to senior tight end Jaxon Detterline for another two points following a Central score.

Key stats: Muthler continued his strong connection with Hoenstine, completing eight passes to him for 78 yards and a touchdown. In total, Muthler distributed passes to six different receivers, including an eight-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Kyle Klotz late in the fourth quarter to secure the 30-6 lead.

Noteworthy: Central's Kort Conley recovered a fumble.
