Blue Pirate Homecoming

For the first time in over two years, the Williamsburg Blue Pirates along with the Juniata Valley Hornets will host a home game in Williamsburg at Veteran's Field, tomorrow evening beginning at 7 p.m.

The team will welcome West Branch.

"We are excited to experience Friday night lights here in Williamsburg for the first time in two years," Williamsburg Athletic Director Jeff Detwiler said. "Having the opportunity to host a varsity game again will be special for our school and community."

He gave a lot of credit to the Williamsburg players for making the trip to Juniata Valley each day to practice and play.

"We are extremely grateful for our football co-op with Juniata Valley, who continues to welcome us," Detwiler said.

Superintendent Lisa Murgas also agreed.

"We are just thankful to Juniata Valley for working with us to make this happen," she said. "The community loves to come out and support our student-athletes, and for that we are grateful."

Juniata Valley Superintendent Mike Zinobile said the co-op experience with Williamsburg has been a positive experience for both districts.

"We have also seen our communities work together for the good of our students. It has been exciting to watch our schools transition from competition against one another in football to now being a close-knit team," he said.

The Juniata Valley School Board unanimously approved this week's game to be held at Williamsburg.

This weekend will also be host to the homecoming festivities for Williamsburg and the class of 2025. There will be no parade for the Homecoming candidates; the crowning will take place on the field beginning at 6:30 p.m. Candidates include Sam Parks, Ethan O, Logan Brantner, and Jesse Brumbaugh; for the ladies, Scotlyn Barroner, Eleanor Brubaker, Kacie Norris, and Alana Bowmaster.
