4 Cases of Typhoid Fever

Checking on persistent reports of typhoid fever cases in the community, the Herald was informed by the Nason Hospital authorities that there are four positive typhoid cases under treatment in that hospital at this time.

A beautiful new bicycle will be awarded as first prize and a portable radio will be given to the second prize winner in the VFW-sponsored soap box derby in Martinsburg, on Labor Day.

The tomato crop for the H. J. Heinz company is turning out well so far. 529 baskets have been shipped out and are said to be very nice tomatoes.

Three Blair County high school bands–Williamsburg, Bellwood-Antis, and Roaring Spring–will combine forces on Friday evening, August 19, to present an outdoor concert that will culminate their summer band activities.

Auditor General Weldon B. Heyburn announced that he has approved payments totalling $423,837.77 to the Firemen’s Relief Fund Associations in nine counties.
