Williamsburg
Byron A. Lane, 73, of Williamsburg, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, 2024, at James E. VanZandt Medical Center, Altoona.
He was born May 22, 1951, in Altoona, son of Delores J. (Lane) Erb and the late Thomas Sheldon Graham.
He is survived by his mother of Williamsburg; two sons: Bradley Thomas Lane and Dustin Mitchell Lane, both of Williamsburg; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a step-sister, Lugene A. Burns of Duncansville; three half-sisters: Patty Graham of San Antonio, Texas, Cathy Henderson (Rick) of Houston, Texas, and Judy Brumbach (Rolfe) of Berkley Springs, WV.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Nicole Lane; and his step-father who helped raise him, Robert R. Erb.
Byron was a 1969 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving from 1969 until 1973 as a medic and stationed at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Byron owned and operated B.A. Lane and Sons Trucking and Excavating for 25 years and also worked in garbage disposal for many years.
He was a member of Cove Forge United Methodist Church, rural Williamsburg and The Allegheny Club in Hollidaysburg. Byron was also a life member of the Bonner Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg and American Legion Post 516, Hollidaysburg.
A memorial service with military honors was held Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com). Pastor Charles G. Sprowls officiated. Private inurnment was held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Byron may be given to the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
