Picnic in Jack’s Corner

The annual Jack’s Corner reunion and community picnic was held in Spielman’s woods. Music was furnished by the Guyer Band Orchestra. Addresses were given by Congressman J. Banks Kurtz, Representative J. Anson Wright and Prof. J.G. Krichbaum, the president of the Jack’s Corner Picnic Association.

Three girls from Mines school: Bertha Zimmerman, Lola Hughes and Mary McDermott, began their first year at Williamsburg High.

The Furry clan, one of the oldest families in the Cove, held their second reunion at Snyder Memorial Park, Martinsburg. P.B. Furry of Loysburg was chosen president of the group.

The Woodbury Grange met for a program of instrumental music, and addresses by Prof. Snyder Alleman on “Our Public Schools,” and a “stump speech,” and singing. The Rev. J.W. Albertson gave a talk on the proposed Child Labor Amendment.
