Public to See Moving Picture

The public was invited this week to a sound moving picture at the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, Beavertown, at 8 p.m., Sunday, September 11.

Martinsburg and Duncansville will decide the 1949 championship of the Blair County Baseball League, Saturday, at the Memorial Park diamond, after dividing wins in games last Saturday and Monday.

Some 435,000 veteran-holders of so-called World War I insurance will receive special dividend checks ranging from a few dollars to several hundred dollars early in September, Veterans Administration said today.

M.D. Myers, of South Market Street, station agent for the P.R.R. at Martinsburg, who has been off on sick leave since the middle of May, is now recuperating.

Lowell Herr, 12-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Grant Herr of Martinsburg, whizzed down the three-block course in 32 seconds, Monday, to win the VFW-sponsored Labor Day Soap Box Derby in Martinsburg.
