C-K Excited for Home Opener with NBC

Claysburg-Kimmel traveled to Berlin to kick off their season against Berlin Brothersvalley. Berlin controlled the game from start to finish, cruising to a 42-14 win. Claysburg struggled to find their rhythm, and by the time they did, the game was already out of reach.

Head Football Coach Charles Kassick said despite the loss, Claysburg’s team played hard against Berlin, an experienced team.

“Berlin is a veteran team, they are prepared, strong, and they have a lot of returning players that were good this year,” he said.

Now they are in the process of preparing for the next game when they will host Northern Bedford.

“Northern Bedford lost a lot of players that were good last year — but they are well coached and it will be tough,” Kassick said.

He said his players are excited because it is the home opener and they are ready to play in their own stadium.

“We love our stadium and we are ready to go,” Kassick said.

While he does not consider Northern Bedford and Claysburg-Kimmel to be rival teams, there is a little bit of development.

“At one time Williamsburg was considered our rival but now that they don’t have a football team, over time it might be Northern Bedford,” he said.
