Martinsburg - U.S. Army
William D. Kreider, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2024 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Martinsburg, son of the late David Irvin and Nellie Pearl (Russell) Kreider. On Dec. 8, 1962, he married Marchia R. “Marty” Replogle in Martinsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Marty of 61 years; two children, whom he dearly loved: Julie L. Kreider of Martinsburg; a son, William C. “Billy” Kreider of Dillon, Mont .; a brother, Randy L. “BJ” Kreider (Brenda) of rural Martinsburg; and a brother-in-law, Bill Aungst of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles I. Kreider and Glenn R. Kreider; and a sister, Audrey M. Aungst.
Bill was a 1956 graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.
He was a United States Army Veteran and attained the rank of Private. Bill also served in the United States Army Corps Reserve (Pennsylvania) for five years, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He was employed as a mechanic at the Atlantic Gas Station and Blattenberger’s Line Construction, both in Martinsburg and also at Asplundh (Power Line Division), Washington, D.C.
Bill was a member of the Shady Trail Riding Club, Woodbury, and D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43, Martinsburg, where he led the Drill Team for many years. He was also a charter member of the Mosquito Haven Hunting Club in rural Martinsburg.
He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed horseback riding and hunting.
A funeral was held Monday, Aug. 25, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com). Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiated. Interment with military honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bill may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
