Huntsman Bowling Alley Creates Wall of Honor

On Saturday, August 9, 16 individuals from the Cove were recognized for their bowling records from games played at the The Huntsman Bowling Center at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.

At the bowling alley, there is a designated spot on the wall that says "Wall of Honor", where the plaques of each of the honorees are on display.

A banquet and award ceremony was held at the park building to give each honorees their own plaque.

According to bowling center manager Dave Shadle, this idea started about a year ago.

"It was a big job trying to locate people who had 300s and those who had 800s," he said.

Shadle said the last few years they had records to go off of, but prior to that he had to talk to people in the community about who they knew.

Book Leidy also played a big part in making the wall of honor happen.

"Without him this would not have happened," Shadle said.

Leidy was the photographer, planner, made the plaques, and he spent many hours talking with Shadle about how they could put everything together.

Most of the honorees have scored 300 games and some have series in the 800s.

"When you look at the board where the display is, we have people who have reached perfection right here in Huntsman Bowling Alley," Shadle said.

John Over, who recently passed away, had the highest record in the old basement four-lane bowling alley with a 296.

In the Huntsman Bowling Alley, Robbie Weitzel had one 300 game, Crystal Burns had a 290 game, Jennifer Meister has a 757 series and high game of 290, Jack H. Weight had 300, Robert Weicht had 300, Don Henry had 300, John Replogle had 300, Joe Over had three 300 games, Jeff Hinish had four 300 games, Mikes Burns had five 300 games, Clair Banks had a 804/805 series and three 300 games, Bruce Ross had a 812/805 series and two 300 games, Joe Hinish had a series of 816, Ricky Brown had a 837 series, and Dan McNally had an 855 series.
