Cause of Fire in Taylor Township Determined to be Electrical

Friendship Fire Company of Roaring Spring was dispatched at 7 p.m. for a fire with entrapment on Cove Lane Road in Taylor Township, on Sunday, August 18.

When crews arrived, there was heavy fire coming from the back of the structure.

While on scene, they were able to confirm that there were not people in the home, but there were animals still in the home.

Crews from Freedom Township Fire Department were also on scene to assist Friendship Fire, which included helping to supply additional water.

Fire crews made quick work of the fire and were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes, and were able to start overhaul work.

Crews were able to keep the bulk of the fire damage to the rear of the home although there is smoke and water damage throughout the home.

A number of family pets were removed from the home and some were taken for treatment for smoke inhalation and injuries sustained in the fire.

The condition of the pets is unknown at the time of this post.

PSP State Fire Marshal was requested on the call and responded to the scene. Investigation was completed by PSP and the Friendship Fire Company Fire Chief and Marshall James Musselman.

After investigation it was determined that the origin of the fire was in the laundry room in the rear of the home and the cause was electrical in nature.

Other fire stations that responded included Claysburg, Martinsburg, Williamsburg, and Southern Cove, and Saxton.
