The Williamsburg Community School Board updated many board policies during their meeting on Thursday, August 15.
These policies included: records management, use of electronic signatures, open records policy, school organization, school calendar, school day, emergency preparedness, relations with law enforcement, school security personnel, child/student abuse, opening exercises/flag displays, food services, transportation and video/audio recording.
The school board approved a five-year contract with Raystown Transit Services ending June 30, 2029. The board also approved an agreement with Hollidaysburg Area School District to provide special education services for the 2024-25 school year. The district approved the following substitute rates for the 2024-25 school year: day-to-day $115, for twenty consecutive days $125/daily, and the substitute rate for one year is $27, 750.
“The elementary is off to a great start in the new school year,” Principal Jennifer Metzler said in her report.
The first student day was Thursday, August 22, and Meet The Teacher activities were held on Tuesday, August 20.
Joselynn Gingerich was hired as the new sixth-grade teacher, and the district is still advertising for a fifth-grade teaching position.
Loc O’s resignation as volunteer cross county assistant coach was approved as well as Debbie Fay’s resignation as varsity softball head coach. Rachel Biddle was appointed as the new volunteer cross country assistant coach for the new school year.
