Gloria L. Guyer

New Enterprise

Gloria L. Guyer, 69, of rural New Enterprise, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2024, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

She was born Dec. 6, 1954, in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Elwood R. Smith and Mary L. (McConahy) Baker. On Feb. 26, 1972, she married Daniel W. Guyer at the St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.

She is survived by Dan, her beloved husband of 52 years; two sons: Mark W. Guyer (Debra) and Matthew L. Guyer (Stephanie Brumbaugh) all of rural New Enterprise; five grandchildren: Cody Guyer (Colleen), Kyle Guyer (Ashley), Colin Guyer (Katelyn), Caitlynn Holtzinger and Conor Brumbaugh; two great-grandchildren: Colter Guyer and Gemma Guyer; four sisters: Jane Fagans (Jim), Patricia Bowman (Jim), Amanda Feight (Wayne) and Dorcas Holm (Jeff); and a brother, Richard Smith (Beverly).

She was a 1972 graduate of Northern Bedford High School. Gloria was a longtime member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, where she was very active with the Women's Fellowship Group. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Custis Chapter #342, Chambersburg.

Gloria began her career as an insurance agent in Summerville, SC. She later worked in Morristown, Tenn. and then in 2020, Gloria retired from ECM Service Agency, located in Roaring Spring.

She loved spending time with her family, helping at her church and doing jigsaw puzzles. Gloria also enjoyed reading and flower gardening.

A funeral was held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Martinsburg. Interment was held at Dry Hill Cemetery, rural Woodbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gloria may be given to St. Matthew Ev Lutheran Church, 115 E. Penn St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
