Citizens Asks to Include Fireworks in Nuisance Ordinance During Meeting

During Citizens recognition time at the Taylor Township Supervisors meeting, Dave Aiello asked if the new nuisance ordinance would include fireworks, which he had a great deal of trouble with this year.

He also asked how the township could enforce the ordinance. The supervisors said they could now fine for violations of the ordinance for things such as parties, etc. An earlier fireworks ordinance had been done away with because it was inefficient.

They cannot get a police force as they would need to double township taxes to do this.

A solar ordinance was discussed and regulation of a solar energy system was brought up. Regulations were made to prohibit farms of solar panels. The plan for solar regulations was available for public inspection and advertised in the newspaper.

Township projects for 2025 were discussed, several of which PennDOT is currently looking at. They need a state representative to meet with township supervisors on a plan for Crosscove Road.

Regarding engineering issues, the Brumbaugh/Frederick subdivision is ready for approval of the sewage planning module. After this, the subdivision can be approved.

Pleasant View Farms is adding a manure storage facility. The sewage component of the plan for Thomas Wareham Trucking was approved. The Mark Frederick Land Development was also discussed.

During the discussion of code enforcement concerns the monthly report of building permits, use and occupancy permits, and inspections was given. It was stated that the township does not enforce ordinances only codes.

Speeding concerns throughout the township led to the approval to purchase a message board trailer with the intent to remind travelers of their speed on township roads. The Radar/Message board can collect data and do speed studies.

The board is mobile and all important township information can be posted on the board. It will move every two weeks and it will slow drivers down when they see their speed on the board.

After discussion, the approval to purchase a Jumping Jack /Tamper was given by supervisors. The township secretary will start the process of applying for grants for the purchase of needed equipment. Transfer of the Taylor Township Emergency Medical Assistance Shelter to the Faith Assembly of God church is in progress.

The purchase of a new copier for the township office was tabled while Financial Report #8 and Bill List #8 were both approved.

The township will look at making one unisex bathroom which will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act since the building is too small to have two new restrooms.

The township issued the following permits: a land use/building permit on Plum Creek Road, a burning permit on Dick Schoolhouse Road, and a subdivision of the Hinish Orchard/Dick Schoolhouse Road.

There was also an additional building permit issued on Snowburger Lane. There was an executive session on legal issues held by supervisors before the meeting. The next board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Taylor Township Municipal Building.
