The Florence Legacy By Lauraine Snelling

Breeanna Lindstrom received an envelope in the mail. It was obviously from Jonathon Wellington, her friend Jade’s husband. Perhaps it was a thank you note. Jade had just passed away. Breeanna, Jade, Lizzie, and Susie and Marybell had been close friends. They were writers and had formed a close bond over writing. Each had received an envelope. Breeanna ripped her envelope open. It was not a thank you but a check for $10,000. Each had received a check in their envelope.

Jade wanted them to use the money to finally make their dream trip to Italy happen. Breeanna decided to go but Susie and Marybell had other responsibilities and could not go. Lizzie was undecided. Breeanna wondered if she should go alone.

With an invite to Paula and Peter’s house for supper, she headed down the street. It was only a few doors down. Dinner went well but Breeanna received a phone call late in the night. Peter had dropped dead. Could she come right away? Breeanna knew well what it was like to lose a husband.

Her husband Roger died in a boating accident. He left her with two young children, James and Jessica. Breeanna had raised her children to adulthood by herself, not that there weren’t problems. James was doing well. He was married, had one child and one on the way. Jessica, however, was floundering. She was heavy in debt and was getting kicked out of her apartment. Should Breeanna give up her trip and help Jessica? James wouldn’t have it.

Lizzie decided to go on the trip to Italy and Denise and her daughter, Rachel decided to go too. Denise had been to Italy before so she knew how to get around. Breeanna enlisted Paula’s widowed brother-in-law, Pierre-Rene to tutor her in Italian. Breeanna found Pierre-Rene to be pleasant company. Did he feel the same about her?

While Breeanna was on her trip to Italy, Pierre-Rene embarked on his own dream. He wanted to open a coffee shop that would serve as a comforting gathering place for veterans and their families.

Breeanna and Pierre-Rene learned that they can’t always control the situations which arise within their families’, friends’ and even their own lives.
