The following notice appeared the previous week:

There will be no issue of the Herald on Aug. 22 as we expect to take a vacation, and the office will be closed from this Friday morning till Tuesday morning, Aug. 26th. As this is the first entire week we have been away from the work of the office for now nearly 25 years, we ask the indulgence of our patrons and hope to be on the job at the time stated for another 25 years’ run.

The Herald editor (M.Z. Bassler) and family accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Bolger, vacationed with relatives in Venango County and traveled to Niagara Falls, where they toured the Shredded Wheat Co. en route home, a stop with relatives in Youngstown added the total mileage of 1,083 “over fine brick and concrete roads and good lunches at wayside parks.”
