Clair Matchett was ready for a vacation. She planned a trip with her husband and two other couples. Clair and her husband Noah had grown apart. She literally thought they hated each other. Emma and Aidan, the Matchett children, would stay with Clair’s sister Penny while they were gone. For some reason, Emma was particularly clingy today. Emma had a dream that a monster ate her parents which terrified her. Finally, they were on their way. They would pick up the others with their minivan.

The other couples were Jack and his wife Michelle and Lindsay and her new boyfriend, Warner. Jack and Noah were best friends. Michelle was a driven divorce lawyer. Lindsay was Clair’s roommate in college. She was beautiful and her new boyfriend, a plastic surgeon, was just as handsome and fit. They made a good pair on first impressions. Michelle was always occupied with her practice and was never very close to Lindsay or Clair.

Clair made the reservations and made separate room reservations for her and Noah. Clair and Jack were having an affair and she would be available to him if he could get away from Michelle. Jack knew he could never divorce Michelle. She was one of the best divorce lawyers around.

Their destination was a remote lodge where they could fish, camp and hike or enjoy a spa and very comfortable accommodations. While deep in the forest, the car engine stalled. Jack and Noah tried to start it up but it was no use. It was starting to get dark. Warner had a map and Jack had a compass. Surely it was not that far to the Inn. Should they venture out on foot? There was no cell phone reception. They became hopelessly lost. They were hungry and tired. Should they stay together or send one or two people ahead? Wouldn’t Penny be worried when she didn’t hear from Clair that they arrived? As they ventured deeper into the woods, one by one, they were losing members of the group. They were running out of water and food. Would they make it to the Inn? Were they being hunted by some mysterious beast?
