Several Cove area high school softball players were named to the Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association All-State Team.
Being selected to the first team was Claysburg-Kimmel senior Emalee Cavender, who was picked as a first team utility player in Class 1A.
"I was super happy because that was something that I worked for all year and I like people to know how hard that I worked for my senior softball season even though I am not going to be playing in college," Cavender said.
She continues by saying that this means that she wants other girls coming out of Claysburg to work just as hard and she wants people to know that Claysburg-Kimmel Softball has a good organization.
Cavender explains how the players were selected for the team.
"What they do is they take everybody's stats from your whole high school season and they choose the people with the best stats to put in certain positions and that is how they picked the all-star team," she said.
Cavender said that it is a great way to get girl's names out there and promoted for people who want to go on and play at the college level.
Central senior Madison Kennedy was selected as a first team outfielder in class 3A.
Kennedy said that she was very excited about being named to the team.
"I put a lot of hard work into softball and that hard work paid off," she said.
Kennedy said that she is very glad to have been selected and that is an honor.
"There were a lot of very good players selected," she said.
Being selected as a second team third baseman in 1A, was Bella Francona from Claysburg-Kimmel. She said that it was great being selected.
