Bistro Hosts Concerts in the Cove

The Bistro at The Village Green hosted their first outdoor concert on Thursday July 18.

Silver Lining which consists of Michelle Barnes and Rick Wertz played a variety of oldies on their guitars. Folks sat outside on the patio and were able to order special event foods while they enjoyed the concert.

Jaret Sweeney is The Village Green supervisor/event manager and Ken Feathers is their executive chef.

Sweeney oversees the entirety of the venue. He decided to start events such as the “Concerts in the Cove” with the idea of giving the independent living community some events to be excited about.

“We have a beautiful restaurant venue – I just think we are lacking a connection with the little community here,” Sweeney said. “Of course, we look to bring in others from the surrounding areas to join us for fun nights such as concerts and trivia.”

He first heard Silver Linings at the Argonne Cafe in Hollidaysburg. They sang a lot of Fleetwood Mac and other 70s and 80s rock songs, Sweeney said.

“My goal was to keep the residents involved while enticing the public with a nice evening of live music and good food.”

The next event will be trivia night on August 15. Sweeney is looking to bring in at least one more live event before summer is over.

The Bistro holds a nice variety of events from bridal showers to company banquets to Christmas parties. Private events are where the Bistro excels, with their beautiful venue and great buffet food Sweeney likes to believe we can keep most people very pleased. The goal is to keep growing their business and events to be considered a great option for the locals that provides a fun atmosphere and an excellent dinner.
