William Gerome Hummel, Jr.

William Gerome Hummel, Jr., 68, of Indiana, Pa. passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at home after a courageous fight against cancer.

He was born January 5, 1956, in Roaring Spring, the son of William Gerome Hummel, Sr. and Mary (Lane) Hummel (Howells).

He is remembered by his wife of 49 years, Cindy (Harclerode) Hummel; a son, Kyle; a daughter, Amber (John); three grandchildren, Bentley, Bristol and Beau; two brothers, Dennis (Tara) Hummel and Cyrus (Kathleen) Howells.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorraine Imler and Norma Malloy; and brother, Thomas Hummel.

He attended Northern Bedford High School and worked for many years in the oil and gas industry. Before his retirement he operated his own motorcycle transport business and enjoyed meeting many new friends along the way.

He was a member of the Holsinger Church of the Brethren.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, pappy and friend. He had many friends whom he considered his family. Family was most important to him and he rarely missed an activity that involved his children or grandchildren. He enjoyed going to Pirate games, watching the Steelers and Nascar. He worked and drove many dirt race cars and spent one year asphalt racing. Some of his fondest memories included coaching his own children and the softball teams Amber played on. Private funeral arrangements will be provided and entrusted to the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
