Jane E. Detwiler

East Freedom

Jane E. Detwiler, age 97, a resident at Colonial Courtyard At Bedford, formerly of East Freedom, died Monday evening, July 1, 2024, at the home.

She was born November 13, 1927, in Lewistown, the daughter of the late John F. and Vera I. (Gates) Eckman. She married Robert A. Detwiler, who preceded her in death on February 16, 1974.

She is survived by five children: Brian K. Detwiler and wife Vickie of New Enterprise, Diane M. Zock and husband Robert of East Freedom, Marilyn J. Lynn and husband Mark of Roaring Spring, Christine A. Miller and husband Roy of Roaring Spring, and Ellen K. Detwiler of East Freedom; a daughter-in-law, Debra Detwiler of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Allen L. Detwiler and John F. Detwiler; three grandchildren; and two brothers: Jack and Drew.

Jane was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring.

She was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School and retired as a CNA from Homewood at Martinsburg after 12 years of service.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, painting, quilting, and baking and cooking.

A private graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane’s memory may be given to the Special Olympics or the Roaring Spring Community Library. Arrangements are by the Todd T.
