Martinsburg Borough Council approved planned upgrades to the downtown during its Monday night meeting, July 7, that will coincide with the borough’s streetscape project. Council approved the purchase of 18 solar lights that will sit atop 8-foot poles in the town center district. In addition to the solar lights, 22 5-by-30-foot banners were approved for purchase.

The recycling program at the South Woodbury Township building has changed.

Claysburg recently won the Chestnut Ridge 12-and-under All-Star Tournament held in Osterburg.

A charcoal drawing by Elizabeth Haffling, Martinsburg, has been selected to represent Pennsylvania’s Ninth District in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Homewood at Martinsburg is gearing up for its 11th annual Golf Classic, which will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13.
