Northern Bedford Alumni Reunion Set for September

The Northern Bedford Alumni reunion will be held Saturday, September 28, at the Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Building in New Enterprise.

Conversation and greetings will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a noon meal served by Kountry Kettle. Cost is $25 and dues of $10 are additional. Dues are used for the expenses of the banquet etc. and are optional.

The program will feature Dennis Shoemaker of Woodbury and a photographic show of Eagles and Other Birds.

The Alumni has recently added a website https://nbc-alumni.com/ which is still under construction. It includes a brief history of the Northern Bedford School and a mission statement.

There will be a display of school memorabilia, pictures, etc. available for viewing. Any additional contributions will be welcomed.

The mission of Northern Bedford County Alumni Association is to lead alumni in fostering strong social connections with each other as well as the Northern Bedford County School Community. This will be achieved through sponsorship of periodic gatherings and other platforms to expedite fundraising to support alumni-sponsored projects.

The Association’s organizers (planning committee) will encourage all alumni members to engage in its activities and to offer ideas for programs that enhance the life experience of students, parents, alumni and the school community. Examples of projects include the following: Guest speakers (local history, scientific, cultural programs, etc.); Programs presented by Alumni (i.e. vocational workshops, debates on social issues, etc.); Website (to enhance communication efforts among members) and: Group Discounts (sporting events, artistic events, hotels, etc.

While invitations are being sent to graduating classes from 1958 through 1967, all Northern Bedford graduates are welcome and encouraged to attend. The steering committee would welcome input into the future of their organization. When possible, emails may be used for communication purposes to save on postage.

All graduates from Replogle, Woodbury, and Smith are also welcomed and will be invited as these schools were the foundation of the Northern Bedford County School District.

This new organization had roots with the Replogle Alumni but a group of graduates realized the three former schools will be constantly decreasing. They wanted the alumni to have the opportunity to give back to the community.

Checks for the banquet can be made out to NBCAA and mailed to Susan Barton at 113 Graham Lane, Bedford, Pa. 15522. Questions or concerns can be address to Phil Leber at norkafam@sbcglobal.net
