Roaring Spring

G. Fred Kensinger, 93, of Roaring Spring, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

He was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Roaring Spring son of the late George D. and Elsie (Smith) Kensinger. On July 24, 1955 he married Shirley J. Henderson in St. Clairsville. She preceded him in death Jan. 2, 2018, after 62 years of marriage.

Fred is survived by his son, Lonnie D. Kensinger (Susan) of rural Everett; two daughters: Dr. Trina Thompson (J. Andrew) of rural Ebensburg and Landi K. Gibson (Richard) of Duncansville; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Kensinger and Daniel Kensinger (Audrey).

He was preceded in death by a sister, Allene Wolfe.

Fred was a 1949 graduate of Woodbury High School. He was a lifelong farmer who was also known in the Cove as an auctioneer and electrician.

Fred was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Martinsburg for 64 years and more recently of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Roaring Spring.

Friends will be received from 3 until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where a private celebration of life service will follow. Pastor Amanda McCaffery will be officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
