Alice Geraldine Grove

Roaring Spring

Alice Geraldine Grove, 90, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Roaring Spring, was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior and greeted by her husband, Bill on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the home.

She was born August 16, 1933, in Williamsburg, a daughter and the youngest of nine children of the late Christian Ray and Rebecca Alice (Stewart) Saylor. On April 5, 1952, she married William Edgar Grove at the Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2008, following 56 years of marriage.

She is survived by four daughters: Sharon Miller, Susan Burkett (Ken), Marsha Smith (Ron), and Brenda Musselman (Kevin); nine grandchildren: Joel Miller (Rebekah), Joanna Clark (Aaron), Jonathan Miller (Grace), Amy Bertram (Jeff), Kenneth Burkett (Kimi), Shannon Chilcote (Michael), Barbra Woodring (Dan), Daniel Smith (Allison), and Dustin Musselman (Sareen); 17 great-grandchildren: Olivia Miller, Graham Clark, Alex Dowd, Ava Miller, Abigail Bertram, Logan Bertram, Caleb Burkett (Hannah), Brady Burkett, Heidi Burkett, Tristan Chilcote, Kelsi Chilcote, Luke Chilcote, Natalia Woodring, Noah Woodring, Korbin Smith, Parker Smith, and Aidan Musselman; most recent family member and first great-great grandson, Liam Vaughn Burkett; and sisters-in-law, Helen (Reeves) Saylor and Lois Grove Hatchell.

Alice was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gene Miller; her six older brothers: Marion, James, Clair, Sammuel, Clarence and John Saylor; two sisters: Frances England and Clara Grove; and several nephews and a niece.

She was a 1951 graduate of Williamsburg High School. Alice worked at the Williamsburg Children’s Home and helped on their family farm. Both Alice and Bill also worked at the Martinsburg Shoe Factory until she left that job to become a very loving and caring mother to her daughters.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, where a funeral service will begin at noon. The funeral service and committal will be officiated by family and Pastor Daniel Woodring. Interment will be held at Yellow Springs Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.
