Two Bridges Renamed

The state House transportation committee recently passed a bill that calls for the renaming of two bridges on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Union Township, Washington County, as the “Joe Montana Bridges.”

The Cove Shoe Co. of Martinsburg recently agreed to pay $116,000 in back pay to over 200 women as part of an agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor. The company is accused of regularly steering women into lower-paying positions.

Blair County’s newest naturalized citizens were sworn in Tuesday, June 22, at the Blair County Court House.

The annual Martinsburg Fourth of July parade, part of the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park celebration festivities, was held on a cool evening Tuesday before a large crowd. The parade, which honored Leroy Hoover of Roaring Spring, ran for approximately two hours.

The Northern Bedford School Foundation will sponsor its second annual golf tournament at 1 p.m. Monday, July, 12, at Down River Golf Club.
