Lakemont Talks About Plans for the 2024 Summer Season

Since 1894, Lakemont Park has been a longstanding focal point for the Altoona Community and Blair County. Since announcing changes for the 2024 Summer season, they have been steadily working to transition the park features to provide new forms of events and activities to better serve the needs of Blair County residents.

“We hope our community will find new ways to enjoy our beautiful ground as we update the Lakemont Park experience,” Andrea Cohen said.

Currently, there are four full-sized basketball courts, two sand volleyball courts, two 18-hole mini-golf courses, four batting cages, 11 pavilions, two stages, several expansive green spaces, and more than 10 yard games are all currently available to the public.

Lakemont Park continues to be a local event and gathering venue, allowing family and friends to connect outdoors. They continue to engage and partner with local organizations to host and develop their special events and fundraisers in the facility.

Lakemont Park is preparing to host the Central Blair Recreation Commission Summer League, support several local groups, and highlight the possibilities within the recreational park grounds.

Reservations are still being accepted through the park office for individuals and organizations planning events this 2024 season, they continue to be open, and invite collaboration with the community to explore new uses and improvements.

Ongoing planning and development will continue for the feasibility of adding spaces for pickleball courts, gaga ball courts, a 6-8 basket disc golf course, fenced in off-leash dog space, and RC track racing.

In mid-June, the sponsorship campaign will kick-off for the 28 annual, 2024 Holiday Lights on the Lake experience.

The event will be held from Friday, November 15, 2024 – Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Added event features will be the inclusion of Walking Tours prior to opening on the first Friday and Saturday of opening weekend and last Friday and Saturday of closing weekend.

A limited number of seasonal staff positions are available to assist with organizing Holiday Lights on the Lake. Applications can be found on our website at lakemontparkfun.com or by emailing info@lakemontparkfun.com.
