CACT's Production of Murder on the Orient Express

Claysburg Community Theatre will present Murder on the Orient Express on June 14 and 15 at the Claysburg Kimmel High School Auditorium.

Director Maria Leppert says that the play is based off of the Agatha Christie book by the same name. It is about several passengers on the Orient Express and obviously a murder takes place. So, we see how the person is murdered.

“If you have ever read any Agatha Christie books, you know that it’s a good story,” Leppert said. “We have some really great actors including long-time CACT members in the production. The sets are awesome. It is a really great story and a great way to support the local arts.”

Kyler Miller plays the role of Hercule Poirot, which is the main lead. He is the famous detective in Europe in 1934, who is trying to figure out who killed Bruno Cassetti. Who did it and precisely how it was done.

“If you love old time shows, if you have watched the movie, it’s kind of similar to the play,” Miller said.

Leppert says that for this particular production, they have at least two months of practice three times a week. Many of the actors are there for every practice and the set people are working multiple afternoons and evenings to get the sets ready.
