Benny R. Swope

Benny R. Swope, 87, of Roaring Spring, passed away June 15, 2024, at his home.

He was born July 21, 1936, in Roaring Spring; son of the late Alvie and Myrtle (Dohrn) Swope. On Dec. 27, 1954, in Roaring Spring, he was united in marriage to Betty L. (Helsel) Swope.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L .; son, Stanley R. Swope of Arizona; son, Rodney L. Swope (Christine) of Roaring Spring; son, Mark S. Swope (Tania) of New Enterprise; brother, Dennis Swope; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; as well as one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Benny graduated from the Altoona Bible Institute and attended the Heritage Baptist Church, Martinsburg.

Benny worked as a welder/fabricator for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. for 43 years. He served 20 years as Vice President of Teamsters and held a master plumber degree. He enjoyed farming and tractors.

Friends will be received Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to the 2:00 p.m. memorial service at the Heritage Baptist Church, 203 King James Ln. Martinsburg, PA 16662. Pastor Mark E. Biter and Mark Swope will be officiating. A meal will follow at the Woodbury Community Center. Private Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery.
