Dragon Baseball

In the District 6 Class AAA Baseball championship, the Central Scarlet Dragons faced off against the Central Cambria Red Devils. A close early game left the score tied at two apiece after the third inning, when the Red Devils took off in the fourth with four runs scored. After the Dragons were able to cut their opponents’ lead to only three runs with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth, the Red Devils responded by pushing the lead back up to five runs in the top of the sixth by scoring two more runs. The Dragons were able to score two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough for the Dragons to take home a victory. Central’s Mason Sparks and Mason Byler combined pitching for the game in the losing effort. Luckily, the Dragons can still make a run in the state playoffs, with a game against Avonworth High School in the upcoming week.

Last Game of the Season

The Central Scarlet Dragon Baseball team played their last game of the season, losing to Avonworth High school in the opening of the state playoffs 6-2. After two scoreless innings, the Dragons struck first in the third with a single from Griffin Snowberger to score Hunter Smith. The Dragons’ opponents took off in the bottom of the fourth, however, scoring six runs against Central pitcher Mason Byler. The Dragons came close to starting a comeback late in the game. In the seventh, the Dragons had runners on first and second, but were immediately followed by two strikeouts to end the game. The Dragons had just three hits throughout the match: two singles from Snowberger and a double from Smith. This marks the end of the Dragons’ Baseball season. The Dragons are losing five seniors for next year, and ended the season with a final record of 16-8.
