Southern Cove Power Reunion Holds Awards Banquet

On Saturday, May 16, the Southern Cove Power Reunion held its annual award ceremony at the club grounds. Over 150 members and their families attended.

The weather cooperated for the banquet which was under the pavilion, but due to the possibility of more rain, the tractor pull was canceled.

The Royal Rangers of Everett, under the leadership of Dennis Dibert, prepared barbecue chicken dinners on the grounds.

This group of boys also made a large pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Corn on the cob was prepared by using Fred Mellott’s Steam Engine.

Three awards were given and presented by Fred Mellott, President of the Club. Deceased Member of the Year was awarded to John Clapper and accepted by his wife Sue. He had served as president of the club, was an active member in demonstrations and planted wheat, said Mellott.

The distinguished member of the year was Don Hoglan. Hoglan is a very active square dancer, taking first prize at the Farm Show this year. He has also restored many items for the club over the years. Outstanding member of the year was given to Judith Ott.
