Roaring Spring

William J. “Whistling Jake” Yingling, age 57 of Roaring Spring, passed away Monday afternoon May 13, 2024, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 16, 1966, in Roaring Spring the son of the late Donald R. “Tiny” Yingling and Nancy Ann (Harold) Yingling.

He is survived by a niece, DorieSue Walker and her children, Alexander Raymes Walker, Nora Eloise Walker, and Finnick Desmond Walker, all of Roaring Spring and a sister, Rebecca Penny Walker of Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Susan Elizabeth Walker and Tina Louise Yingling.

Jake was a member of First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring.

He was a 1985 graduate of Central High School and had worked at Edgemate in Roaring Spring for many years.

Jake loved Pittsburgh sports – Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers; Central Dragon Football, bagpipe music, and fishing and hunting.

He was a life member of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Roaring Spring and was an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member with the Boy Scouts of America – Troop 62.

A memorial was held Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring. Pastor Dave Crumrine officiated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jake’s memory may be given to the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.
