In a week containing four matches for the Central Lady Dragon Softball team, they were able to down their first opponent of the week, the Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils with a score of 11-1. Sadly, the other matches of the week came with losses. Against the Clearfield Lady Bison, a 7-6 loss. Against the Hollidaysburg Lady Golden Tigers, a 2-1 loss, and against the Penns Valley Lady Rams, an 18-6 loss.
Against the Blue Devils, the Dragons started strong with a 6-0 lead after four innings. The Dragons added another four in the sixth and one more in the seventh to mark the victory. Lexi Fetzer had two hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Aubrey Rhodes had three hits, while Ashlyn Renner and Kaylee Kensinger each had two RBIs.
The Dragons narrowly fell to the Bison in their second game of the week. The Bison led the game after four innings 2-0. The Dragons were able to rally for five runs in the fifth inning to take a two-run lead. Despite one more run in the seventh for the Dragons, the Bison’s four marked a Dragon defeat. Bralyn Ellis had a double and a home run. Fetzer had two hits as well.
Against the Golden Tigers, a low scoring game spelled the downfall of the Dragons. The Dragons scored one run in the first inning for an early, albeit small lead. The Tigers were able to score two runs in the third, ending the scoring from both teams for the rest of the game. Rhodes and Madison Kennedy each had three hits. Pitcher Riley Peterson allowed only four hits in the losing effort.
Against the Rams, the Dragons faced a hefty loss. Despite leading 4-3 after two innings, the Rams scored six in the third inning and another one in the fourth. The Dragons had one run in each the fifth and sixth, but another eight runs from the Rams in the seventh ended the game in Dragon defeat. Rhodes and Fetzer each had three hits, while Kaylee Kensinger had two RBIs.
In the upcoming week, the Dragons have a sole game against the Altoona Lady Mountain Lions.
