American Legion to Hold Memorial Services

The Claysburg American Legion will conduct Memorial Services at the following cemeteries on Sunday, May 26:

1:15 Sproul

1:35 King

2:05 Imler

2:25 Greenfield

2:50 Lower Klahr

3:10 Upper Klahr

3:45 Mt. Hope

This will be their 90th Annual Memorial Day Program. Sunday’s program will include music provided by Claysburg American Legion Band under the direction of Dan Crist and Claysburg Community Chorus under the direction of Heidi Kennedy, invocations by Claysburg Legion Chaplain Ray Glass and readings by representatives of Claysburg Legion Auxiliary, Colonel Vincent L. Dodson of the V.F.W., Claysburg American Legion Commander Ira Roudabush, and a salute to departed comrades.

A ceremony will also be held on Monday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery with Diana G. Walter-Dively as Presenter of Ceremony.

Monday’s program will include music provided by Claysburg American Legion Band under the direction of Dan Crist and Claysburg Community Chorus under the direction of Heidi Kennedy, vocalist will be Jackie Couch, invocations by Claysburg Legion Chaplain Ray Glass and readings by representatives of Claysburg Legion Auxiliary, Colonel Vincent L. Dodson of the V.F.W., Claysburg American Legion Commander Ira Roudabush, Sons of the American Legion Representative Dave Garner.

The memorial address guest speaker will be Pastor Steve Brumbaugh. A salute to departed comrades and the playing of Taps will close the program.

In case of inclement weather on Monday, the services will be held in the Christ Lutheran Church.
