Martinsburg
Carol I. Warland, 85, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown.
She was born Nov. 7, 1938, in Fredericksburg, daughter of the late Roy M. and Victoria O. (Bowser) Griffith. Carol was twice married, first to George H. Baldwin Sr. and then to Duane M. Warland, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by five children: Jane Norman (Mathew), Debra Ladarni (Denny), Sherry Pabis (Daniel), George Baldwin Jr. (Sharon) and Mary Miller (Terry); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight siblings: Donna Swam (John), Delores Wiegand, Vickey Brooks, Miriam “Midge” Douglas (Edwin), Allan R. Griffith, Lee M. Griffith, James L. Griffith and Dale W. Griffith (Teresa); a brother-in-law, Teddy Keithley; an aunt, Ruth Lensbower; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild; two sisters: infant, Connie V. Griffith, and Gloria A. Keithley.
Carol was a 1956 graduate of North Hartford High School, Bel Air, Md. and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Freedom.
She was employed as a supervisory data management specialist from 1960 until 1988 for the Unted States Department of Defense at both the Edgewood Proving Grounds in Maryland and the U.S Army Garrison Rock Island Arsenal, while residing Iowa.
Carol then worked, until her retirement at the Unemployment Office in Altoona as a claims examiner for the PA Department of Labor & Industry.
Carol loved fishing, taking scenic car rides, cooking for family get-togethers and her pet dog, Trixie.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, East Freedom. Private inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
