Woodbury Resident Achieves Her Dream

Shaylea Gates, a local cosmetologist who was employed at Serenity Hair Salon in Woodbury, has opened her own spa in Bedford, at 126 East Pitt St.

Bel Cielo Hair and Nail Spa is the chosen name which was named in honor of her daughter Sky. The name means “beautiful sky” in Italian.

Gates specializes in nail design, pedicures, hair coloring and styling.

As a child she always had an interest in serving others and making them feel beautiful, she said.

Gates attended The Salon Professional Academy before being employed by Serenity.

“It has always been a dream of mine to start my own salon and offer services to women and girls,” she said. “A place that reflects positivity. Also, I like to let my artistic ability shine in my nail artwork and hair styles.”

Most nail designs are one-of-a-kind and drawn freehand by Gates.

New and old clients are being accepted by appointment only.

The business can also be found on Facebook, where photos of her previous work are posted. Spa pedicures include essential oils of your choice, hot towels and massage and paraffin treatment.

“One-on-one personalized experience to fit the client’s needs” is Gates’s stated goal.
