Shane Ritchey of Martinsburg took this photo of the eclipse on Monday, April 8, from his residence. The total solar eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. Because of the path the eclipse took across the Earth, viewers in Pennsylvania did not see the Sun entirely blocked.
According to NASA, after Monday’s total solar eclipse, the next one viewable from the contiguous U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044....
