Helen M. (Metzler) Shaffer

Helen M. (Metzler) Shaffer, 98 of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Monday, March 18, 2024, at SpiriTrust Lutheran Nursing Center in Gettysburg.

She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Martinsburg, on the family dairy farm, the daughter of the late Clarence B. & Margaret L. (Honsaker) Metzler.

Her husband, Richard E. “Dick” Shaffer, with whom she shared 74 years of a loving and God centered marriage died in 2021.

Helen was a very active member of the Bethel Mennonite Church in Gettysburg, where she sang in the choir, was a Bible School and Sunday School Teacher and forme...
