Joan Snyder Ralston went home to be with her Heavenly Father March 11, 2024.
She was born in Woodbury, the only child of Marshall and Jennie Snyder of Loysburg.
Joan was a graduate of Replogle High School in New Enterprise, and had honors in music and journalism.
Upon graduation from high school, she was employed at the A & P Tea Company in Everett. She retired with 25 years of service at the A & P in LaVale. Joan was also a nursing assistant, caring for people in the hospital or their home. For a number of years, she coordinated bus trips through the Bollman Charter Service of Everett.
She attended the Woodbury Church of God and Park Place United Methodist Church in LaVale, Md. Joan was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Md., having been an elder and choir member for 45 years. At church she also participated in the Mary Martha Circle and the Highlanders. She attended the Presbyterian Women’s Gathering in 1994 in Ames, Iowa, and in 1997 in Louisville, KY.
Joan was a member of McKinley Chapter, #12, O.E.S. and received the Phoebe Award in 2008. Joan was honored by the Grand Chapter of Maryland, O.E.S. for 50 years of membership. She also belonged to Re Temple, #118, D.O.N.
Joan was a member of the Tri-State Community Concert Association and served two terms on their Board of Directors. She was a member of the Music and Arts Club, serving on the hospitality and performing committees. Joan also participated as a Ladybirds Barbershop singer for more than 35 years. She was a member of the Frostburg Senior Citizens and enjoyed participating in their card club. In addition, she participated in the Centerville Seniors, AARP, Red Hat Society, and Belles ‘n Beaux Square Dance Club. Joan was past president of the LaVale Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Bobby Vinton International Fan Club in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s and sang with Bobby Vinton in Atlantic City, NJ, Baltimore, Md., Johnstown, Branson, Mo., and Hanover.
Joan is survived by her cousins, Patricia Snyder, Kathy Williams, Debbie Thien, Bobby Davis, and Richard Snyder.
A funeral was held at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Friday, March 15, 2024. Rev. Alison Peters officiated. Interment was in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.

Joan was blessed to have compassionate and loving care from the staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.
