The Claysburg Rotary is presenting its 21st “Hee Haw” show at the Claysburg Kimmel High School auditorium at 7 p.m. March 15 and 16.
The comedy variety show offers jokes and skits and singing and dancing.
Performing on Friday evening are Will’s Mt. Cloggers, Mt. City Grass, Becky’s School of Dance, Marshal Neff, Lauren Albright Hall, Cindy John and Ridge Hershberger.
On Saturday night, there will be the Horseshoe Cloggers, Country Traditions, Shining Stars Twirl and Dance, Marty Walters, Lauren Albright Hall, Cindy John and Ridge Hershberger.
Director Dan Crist said that in the beginning, his group was looking for something that would give the group additional income. The group noticed that a “Hee Haw” show was being performed in Hyndman and was bringing people in from around the region.
“We started the show here to raise money for the Claysburg park,” Crist said. “Then, we started raising money for the Rotary and their projects. We settled on ‘Hee Haw’ because we figured that it might work here.”
Heidi Kennedy, one of the hosts for the evening, said that her and her co-host Matt Imler’s job is to make the folks laugh and smile a little bit.
She said that she thinks this show is important because the Rotary does really good work.
“We get to help them help other people,” she said.
Imler said that it is important to support the Rotary because is probably one of the club’s only annual fundraisers.
The Rotary, for example, supports the Boy Scouts and the Cub Scouts in the area.
Imler, whose stage name is Cletus, said he hopes that the show brings some laughs.
“Just come out and have some laughs with us and have a good time,” he said. “I hope that they get a couple hours of fun and enjoyment from all of what they see and hear. I think that is the idea. I think that this program is pretty unique.”
Kennedy said that it is a different show each night.
“You will see something different. You never know what Matt or I are going to say,” she said.
Tickets are sold at Peggy’s Diner and the Claysburg Public Library.
Students from Claysburg Kimmel’s FBLA program will also be selling tickets to raise money for their trip to nationals.
