In the District Six 4A Championship match, the Central Scarlet Dragons were put up against the Johnstown Trojans, a team they had lost to twice before in the season.
The game started off great for the Dragons, who nabbed a 9-4 lead with a little over four minutes left in the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, the Dragons led by three.
The second quarter brought 11 points from both teams, keeping the Dragons lead with a 22-19 halftime score. But things fell apart for the Dragons in the second half. With the Dragons down six, the Trojans were able to make two back-to-back three-pointers. This ended the third quarter with 15 points from the Trojans while the Dragons scored a mere two.
The same fate befell the Dragons in the final quarter, where a single three-point shot and a layup gave the Dragons five points to the Trojans’ 10.
This left the final score of the game at 44-29 in favor of the Trojans, ending the Dragons’ season.
Despite the first half success, the ball just didn’t fall for the Dragons in the second, leading to their demise. Eli Muthler led the Dragons’ scoring with 13 points. This marks the end of the Dragons’ season, where they achieved a record of 19 wins and six losses, an accomplishment no one thought they would be able to do this year.
